For courts, attorneys & referrals · Minnesota
Court-ordered psychological evaluations & chemical health assessments
Clear, evidence-based assessments conducted by a licensed psychologist — thorough, neutral, and documented to meet the needs of courts, attorneys, and the individuals involved.
What I offer
Two core assessments.
Court-ordered psychological evaluations
Comprehensive psychological evaluations ordered by courts or requested by attorneys to inform legal decision-making — objective, evidence-based, and clearly documented.
- Clinical interview and relevant history
- Standardized, evidence-based testing
- Records and collateral review
- Objective findings and diagnostic clarity
- Court-ready written report and recommendations
Comprehensive Chemical Health Assessment
An in-depth assessment (formerly known as a Rule 25 assessment) that evaluates substance use severity and determines medical necessity for treatment. Under Minnesota’s Direct Access, you may choose your assessor directly — no county approval or waiting required.
- In-depth interview: chemical use, mental health, legal, and daily functioning
- Typically 1–2 hours, in person or via telehealth
- Diagnosis and level-of-care recommendations
- Guidance toward the right setting — outpatient, residential, or education

What to expect
A clear, structured process.
Each assessment begins with confirming the referral question or court order, followed by a structured interview and any indicated testing. Sessions are available in person or via telehealth.
You receive a clear written report with objective findings and specific recommendations, prepared to meet the needs of the referring court, attorney, or program.
Fees
Scoped to your assessment.
Court-ordered evaluations and chemical health assessments are priced by the type and scope of the assessment. Court orders and attorney referrals are welcome. Specific fees and scheduling are confirmed during an initial consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Good to know.
Do I need a court order or referral?
For court-ordered evaluations, an order or attorney referral defines the question to be addressed. For a Comprehensive Chemical Health Assessment, Minnesota’s Direct Access lets you schedule directly — no county approval needed.
How long does an assessment take?
A Comprehensive Chemical Health Assessment typically takes 1–2 hours. Psychological evaluations vary by scope and may involve more than one session.
Can assessments be done by telehealth?
Many assessments can be conducted via secure telehealth or in person, depending on the referral requirements and your situation.
Who receives the report?
Reports are prepared for the referring court, attorney, or program as specified. Court-ordered evaluations may carry different confidentiality terms than therapy; this is explained before you begin.
